With the reduction of plastic waste becoming a global issue due to consideration for the environment, a large-scale exhibition introducing various products using materials that replace plastic has started in Chiba City.

Approximately 600 companies and organizations participate in the exhibition "High Performance Materials Week" that started at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, and introduce the latest environmentally friendly technologies and products.

Of these, major paper manufacturers have developed wrapping paper made of paper, which is made from more than 99% of the raw materials without using plastic, and are exhibiting bags for daily necessities.

In addition to reducing plastic waste, paper is decomposed in the natural world, so even if it flows out into the sea, the impact on the environment can be kept small.

In addition, a venture company with a factory in Niigata Prefecture has developed a resin made from rice that could be discarded, and is exhibiting lunch boxes and tableware using this resin.

Up to 70% of the raw material for resin can be made into rice, and the strength and manufacturing cost of the product are almost the same as those of conventional plastic products.

In addition, environmentally friendly materials such as cushioning materials made from plants and iron, which is light but strong, are also on display.

Mr. Katsutoshi Tsuchiya, the organizer, said, "While issues such as marine plastic waste are becoming a major issue, I hope that new technological innovations will be born by meeting professionals at the exhibition."

This exhibition will be open until the 10th.
