On December 6, local time, Kristalina Georgieva, President of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), participated in the "1+6" roundtable dialogue by video and delivered a speech.

Georgieva said that since the last meeting, the global economy has continued to recover, but it is still affected by factors such as the emergence of variants of the new crown virus, the uncertainty of the new crown epidemic, and inflation.

She believes that in order to ensure the recovery of the world economy, each country’s policy should focus on vaccinations against the new crown, adjust policies according to the new crown epidemic and economic development, and accelerate reforms to build a sustainable and inclusive economy.

Georgieva pointed out that although its momentum is currently slowing down, China has achieved a real economic recovery.

She compared China to an important engine of world economic growth, and said that adopting strong measures to support China's economic growth will not only benefit China, but also the world.

Georgieva also proposed four areas of global cooperation at the meeting, so that countries can better cooperate to support the global economic recovery.

These include: fulfilling the United Nations goal of vaccinating 70% of the population by mid-2022; strengthening the multilateral trading system to reduce friction; achieving the transition to net zero carbon emissions as soon as possible, and preferring policies to support this goal; and supporting the recovery process of developing economies.

Georgieva said that China's climate strategy is taking shape and will play an important role in the global response to climate change.

In addition, China's provision of US$10 billion in special drawing rights to Africa is also very beneficial.
