A region in western Canada set a new winter temperature record.
In Penticton, a city in the center of the province of British Columbia, a maximum temperature of 22.5 degrees Celsius was measured on Wednesday.
"This is a record, or rather, it is record-breaking," said meteorologist Armel Castellan of Environment Canada.
Penticton is a few hundred kilometers southeast of Lytton.
Lytton gained international attention that summer for breaking a new Canadian heat record of 49.6 degrees Celsius before a fire struck days later that killed at least two residents.
The historic heat wave caused by climate change killed hundreds of people across the province.
In mid-November, heavy rains in the province led to catastrophic flooding, which authorities have also linked to climate change.
