Sales of five major department stores have continued to recover, surpassing the same month last year, as the infection with the new coronavirus has subsided and the movement to refrain from going out has eased.

Five major department stores announced preliminary sales of existing stores in November on the 1st.

According to this, Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store increased by 15.9% compared to the same month last year, Hankyu Hanshin Department Store increased by 11.5%, and Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings increased by 11.4%, both of which were double-digit plus.

In addition, Takashimaya increased by 8.9% and Sogo & Seibu increased by 7.8%.

According to each company, in addition to selling high-priced products such as overseas brand products and jewelry, new year dishes and Christmas cakes are being sold because the infection of the new coronavirus has subsided nationwide and the movement to refrain from going out has eased. The year-end sales season, such as pre-order sales, also performed well, boosting sales.

Sales of major department stores have continued to recover since the state of emergency was lifted at the end of September, but the infection of the new mutant virus "Omicron strain" is spreading here, and department store companies are planning to move forward. I would like to keep an eye on the status of infection in Japan.
