Despite the worsening Corona situation, Germany's labor market also developed positively in November: The number of unemployed fell by 60,000 compared to the previous month to 2.317 million and thus fell "significantly", as the Federal Employment Agency (BA) said on Tuesday Nuremberg announced.

The unemployment rate fell by 0.1 percentage points to 5.1 percent.

Compared to November of the previous year 2020, this means a decrease of 382,000 unemployed or 0.8 percentage points.

"The recovery of the last few months has continued on the labor market," said BA boss Detlef Scheele.

"The consequences of the current, worrying corona situation in Germany have hardly been evident so far."

The use of short-time working has also recently continued to decline, according to data from the BA.

In September - the most recent month for which figures on the actual utilization are available - 751,000 employees were on short-time work.

Short-time working in Germany reached its peak in April 2020 at the beginning of the corona pandemic with almost six million recipients.
