Trade ministers from Japan, the United States and the EU-Europe will meet online on the night of November 30th.

In this context, the Japanese side has a policy of calling on Japan, the United States, and Europe to take the lead in creating rules for dispute resolution in order to eliminate uncertain subsidies to companies.

Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hagita will attend the "Tripolar Trade Ministers' Meeting" held online on the night of November 30th, Japan time, together with Thai Trade Representative of the United States and Senior Vice-Chairman Dombrovskis, who is in charge of trade policy in the EU.

In this, Minister Hagiuda is calling for Japan, the United States and Europe to take the lead in creating rules for dispute resolution at the WTO = World Trade Organization in order to eliminate unclear subsidies to companies.

It seems to be a countermeasure with China in mind.

For example, if an uncertain subsidy is provided to a company in a country and a fair competitive environment is hindered, the WTO's dispute resolution rules so far require the accusing country to gather evidence, which is a high hurdle. There was a challenge.

The aim is to make it easier to resolve disputes by shifting this burden of proof to the country that provided the subsidy.

Japan would like to lead the discussion in Japan, the United States and Europe first, and hurry to consider specific rules at the WTO.
