Purchasing power is the main concern of the French, by far!

This is the main lesson of the first Odoxa - FG2A barometer for Europe 1, published Monday morning.

45% of French people place it at the top of their priorities, to such an extent that purchasing power already appears to be a key issue for the 2022 presidential election.

EUROPE INFO 1

A theme that is well ahead of all the others.

Five years ago, unemployment was at the heart of the concerns of the French.

It is now in sixth position, and it is therefore purchasing power that crushes everything with 45% of French people who place it at the top of their priorities.

In total, this is eleven points more than before the 2017 presidential election.

In Europe, it is even a specificity, even a French obsession.

"Compared to other large European countries, we have 15 points more in France of people who consider that purchasing power is a very important subject of concern", underlines Gaël Sliman, president of Odoxa.

Eight in ten French people consider that their purchasing power has deteriorated

And to add that in comparison, "we are at a level twice as high as in the United Kingdom and three times as high as in Germany".

The French are therefore European champions of pessimism according to the polling institute.

Eight in ten people think that their purchasing power has deteriorated over the past 12 months with the health crisis and four in ten say they are currently in financial difficulty.

The main reasons: the rise in the prices of energy, gasoline and certain consumer goods.
