  The 7th Chengdu Seed Industry Expo (Autumn) New Variety Field Exhibition Conference recently opened in Pengzhou Tianfu Vegetable Fragrant Expo Park.

More than a thousand new vegetable varieties are grown in the fields and greenhouses outside the Expo Park.

  At the exhibition site, in the field where the new variety was planted, the staff picked a lotus white from the field and cut and tore off the leaves to invite everyone to taste it.

"The green one is sweeter, it's called'Zhentian'." The staff pointed to the side of the cut lotus white and said that besides sweetness, the interior is very fluffy, which is also one of its characteristics.

  Not only are they delicious, but the vegetables in the ground also have a good appearance.

The staff cut off the lower leaves of a broccoli plant, leaving the rest like a bunch of flowers.

In addition to the elongated broccoli, there are also all kinds of radishes in the ground, such as stick-shaped and round ones.

The round ones are divided into palm-sized and table tennis-sized ones.

  In terms of color alone, purple peppers are the most special of the day.

"The side exposed to the sun will turn purple, and what can't be exposed to the sun will still be green." The staff turned over the peppers in their hands and said that the color is only the surface, and this variety is also very connotative, because the purple pepper has a higher anthocyanin content. .

  It is understood that in order to showcase new autumn and winter varieties, Chengdu local varieties, and dominant varieties, this field exhibition is divided into five areas: Sichuan characteristic variety display area, core display area, dominant variety display area, new variety display area, and greenhouse planting display area. , A total of 1,133 new and special vegetable varieties from 98 seed companies at home and abroad were exhibited. The main vegetables exhibited were Solanaceae and Cruciferae.

  With more than a thousand new varieties that are dazzling, how many of them will be served on everyone's table in the end?

Li Chunwen, president of the Vegetable Branch of Chengdu Seed Industry Association, said that generally only about 10% of new varieties will be eaten on the table.

Before that, they have to go through layers of screening, and it usually takes at least three years from trial planting to large-scale planting.

Li Chunwen introduced that after the introduction, first small-scale trial planting will be carried out, and then the planting area will gradually expand to a few acres.
