This "black Friday" has become one of the biggest consumption days in France, even going beyond Christmas Eve.

6% of sales for the year

According to the Retail Alliance, on Black Friday there are about as many people in stores as on Christmas Eve.

The phenomenon is even more impressive on the internet.

"The day of Black Friday as such represents 6% of sales for the year and two and a half times what we do on fifteen days of sales in autumn-winter", explains Nathalie Mesny, general manager of Sarenza. com. 

This year, promotions started at the start of the week.

Black Friday has become the launch day for Christmas shopping, with a focus on toys, electronics and large appliances.

"The period of Black Friday is greater than the period before Christmas. For large purchases, clearly, it is anticipation", analyzes François Momboisse, president of Fevad, the federation of e-commerce.

According to the research firm BCG, the French planned to spend an average of 300 euros for Black Friday with a clear difference according to gender: men planned to spend 25% more than women.
