His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, received this morning the French Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, at the Leaders Building at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The meeting dealt with strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries, in light of the existing strategic partnership between the UAE and France, and ways to develop this partnership at various levels and in various fields for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.

His Highness said in a tweet on the blogging site "Twitter": "The UAE is the first trading partner with France in the Middle East, with a trade exchange volume of 250 billion dirhams over the past decade, and we have 17,000 French trademarks registered in the UAE ... and the next in our relations will be the best." For his part, the French minister praised the UAE's achievements in various sectors, which enhance its position regionally and internationally, praising the great success achieved by Dubai in hosting "Expo 2020 Dubai", and the great efforts made to present an exceptional version of the global event that brings together ideas and world visions towards a better future for all.

During the meeting, the UAE side highlighted the progress made by the state in strengthening the system to confront financial crimes, especially by reviewing the latest developments in the implementation of the national strategy to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.

The UAE side praised the high level of partnership between the UAE and the United States in combating money laundering and terrorist financing, especially after the holding of the UAE-US-British workshop on combating money laundering and terrorist financing on October 26 and 27, at the headquarters of the Executive Office to Combat Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Terrorism in Abu Dhabi.

During the workshop, the Emirati side gave a presentation on the progress of work with regard to the national action plan to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, in addition to reviewing the most important achievements in the previous period and the most prominent future plans.
