Be patient with hydrogen fuel cell vehicles

  According to data from the China Automobile Association, in October, the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 59 and 47, respectively. From January to October, the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 940 and 953, respectively.

  The production and sales of 1,000-unit vehicles are indeed far from the 10,000-unit goal of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles planned by the state and local governments. This has caused many people to question the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The China Automobile Association recently stated that there is no problem with the direction of my country's development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

  The development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles is one of the important strategic goals of my country, the United States, Europe, Japan and other countries and regions under the global trend of reducing carbon emissions.

In the "National Innovation-Driven Development Strategy Outline", "Mid-Long-Term Development Plan for the Automobile Industry" and other documents, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are all listed as industries to be vigorously developed.

According to the plan, by 2030, my country will achieve the goal of 2 million hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

  Hydrogen energy has the advantages of high calorific value and zero pollution, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have always attracted attention because of the short refueling time and long cruising range of hydrogen energy.

Many ministries and commissions, regions and enterprises in my country have clearly stated their support and deployment of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has included some of its models in the list of recommended models for the promotion and application of new energy vehicles; at the provincial level, according to incomplete statistics, more than ten provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities have issued policies to promote hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and their development goals are average Companies such as Great Wall Motors, Sinopec, and Longji are all actively deploying the hydrogen energy industry.

  At present, the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in China is relatively fast, but as a new thing, its technology R&D and application need to be further explored, and the market and supporting measures still need to be gradually improved.

  To develop the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry, in addition to the development of complete vehicles, it must also be supported by new technologies and new parts of the entire industry chain.

At present, the main reason for the high price of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in my country is that key component technologies rely on imports and the cost is high.

Industries and enterprises should actively explore, increase R&D investment and R&D efforts, and promote the localization of key technologies and parts in the manufacturing field as soon as possible.

  In terms of market applications, priority can be given to special vehicles in application areas, such as heavy trucks in the logistics industry and other commercial vehicles that require long cruising range and fast charging.

The cost of the battery of an electric vehicle is relatively high, and its own weight is also very large, and it is not suitable for long-distance logistics and transportation.

The hydrogen energy injection time is short, the cruising range is long, and the carrying capacity is not large. The development of hydrogen fuel trucks is one of the effective cuts for the development of hydrogen fuel commercial vehicles.

  In terms of supporting facilities, although the current layout has just begun, it also needs a comprehensive and balanced layout.

Localities and enterprises must be forward-looking and forward-conscious in planning, design, and construction.

At the same time, we must not only rely on local support, but more importantly, we must mobilize market forces to achieve sustainable development.

  Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are a big game, requiring comprehensive improvements in hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, hydrogen refueling stations, hydrogen fuel cell vehicle manufacturing, and applications to jointly promote the popularization of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Places and companies that have entered this field or are interested in it should not be discouraged because of low short-term sales. They must have a long-term vision, see the meaning of persistence, and have more tolerance and patience for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
