Port Rashid wins the award for "The Leading Tourist Port in the Middle East"

Port Rashid won, for the 14th year in a row, the “Leading Tourist Port in the Middle East” award at the World Travel Awards this year. This award confirms the port’s leading position regionally and globally, amid expectations that the port will receive 126 cruises and more than half a million passengers during the season. The upcoming cruises 2021-2022, which contributes to the recovery witnessed by the tourism sector in Dubai, and confirms the port’s efforts in helping the tourism sector recover.

A statement issued today indicated that Port Rashid's advanced facilities and large areas have enhanced its ability to handle passenger cruise ships, to constitute an added value to its strategic location.

"Despite the market challenges and the slowdown in the tourism sector, the port has been able to withstand various challenges and continues to provide its unremitting efforts to boost the UAE economy," said Hamza Mustafa, Executive Director of Operations at P&O Marinas.


He added, "Since its launch in 2014 until 2020, the cruise terminal at Port Rashid has witnessed a growth of 55 percent, and has received a large number of cruise ships."

Mustafa continued: "As a major part of the UAE economy and an important development pillar for Dubai, Port Rashid is constantly undergoing expansion and development to enhance its capabilities in order to build a world-class entertainment facility that closely reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Emirate of Dubai, promoting the emirate as a major destination for cruise tourists. The international navy is at the top of our priority list.”
