The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has reduced

the rise in the

Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October

to

5.4%

from the 5.5% that it had advanced two weeks ago, but the increase in prices registered in the month The past is still a

record since 1992.

As detailed by the Institute, all segments of goods and services had an upward influence on the rise in prices:

housing

(which includes utility costs such as electricity, gas and diesel for heating)

became more expensive by 20.5%

in year-on-year terms ;

while

transport

(also marked by the price of fuel) rose 12.3%.

The price of

hotels, cafes and restaurants

rose by 2%, while

leisure and culture services increased by

1.5%.

The

core inflation

, which ignores the price of the two most volatile elements: Energy price

food and products rose four tenths to 1.4%.

The difference of four points between this indicator and general inflation is the highest since August 1986, which, according to experts, shows that the rise in prices is not generalized for the entire economy.

In monthly terms, prices

rose

1.8% in October,

thus accelerating their upward trend

, since in September they had risen 0.8% compared to August and, in August, 0.5% compared to July.
