In the future, companies that import, produce, or sell urea and urea water must report daily performance-related information by noon of the next day.

In addition, urea water sales are limited to gas stations, and you can only buy up to 10 liters of urea per car at a time.

The government enacted the 'Emergency Supply and Demand Adjustment Measures' today (11th) and started to implement it immediately.

The government started to manage the distribution network when domestic supply became insufficient due to a shortage of urea and water from China.

According to this emergency supply and demand adjustment measure enacted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment, a business that imports and sells elements that depend entirely on imports into Korea must report imports, uses, sales, and inventory by noon the next day.

You must also report your projected imports for the next two months.

This is a measure to secure information to predict supply and demand risks in advance.

As with urea, companies that produce, import, and sell urea water must report production, import, shipment, inventory, and sales volume on the same day by noon the next day.

This measure is temporarily implemented until the end of the year, and the export of urea and urea water is prohibited in principle at the same time as it is implemented.

At the same time, the government issued the first adjustment order specifying the quantity and target of supply, and limited the places where vendors can deliver to gas stations.

However, the case where the seller directly enters into a supply contract with a specific consumer (construction site, large transportation company, etc.) without going through the seller is excluded.

You can purchase up to 10 liters of urea for vehicles sold at gas stations at a time for passenger cars, and up to 30 liters for cargo/van, construction machinery, and agricultural machinery.

In addition, the purchaser cannot resell the purchased urea number to a third party, and an order can be made to have another importer or distributor sell the purchased urea/urea number.

The government plans to severely punish violations of this emergency supply and demand adjustment measure.

In case of violation, imprisonment of not more than 3 years and a fine of not more than 100 million won are imposed according to the Price Stabilization Act.

"Based on the report, we plan to respond to the current supply and demand shortage by identifying where the bottleneck is and taking necessary measures based on the report," said Joo Young-joon, head of industrial policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

“Through this measure, we will do our best in cooperation with relevant ministries to ensure that urea and urea water are smoothly distributed in the market so that there is no difficulty in people’s lives,” said Kim Beop-jeong, head of the climate and carbon policy department at the Ministry of Environment.
