At the calf auction held in Miyazaki City on the 11th, the price was sluggish due to the movement of refraining from buying among livestock farmers against the background of high costs such as fuel costs due to the influence of soaring crude oil prices.

A total of 631 calves were auctioned on the 10th and 11th at the Miyazaki Central Agricultural Cooperative Livestock Market in Miyazaki City.

The breeding farmers who ship the cows carefully arranged the coats of their proud cows until just before the auction.

According to JA Miyazaki Chuo, the average price of male calves in the two days up to the 11th is 803,000 yen, which is about 10% lower than five years ago when it was strong.

In addition to the continued decline in demand due to the effects of the new coronavirus, the recent rise in crude oil prices has been pointed out.

According to JA Miyazaki Chuo, there is a movement among livestock farmers to refrain from buying because the cost of fuel for imported feed and tractors that carry feed from overseas will increase and the breeding cost will increase.

A cattle fattening farmer who came to buy calves said, "Because of the high cost of raising crude oil, we cannot bid off at a bullish price to avoid a deficit."
