Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Greek government, Citroën and the industrial groups Vinci and Akuo Greece, the process to transform the island of Chalki into a carbon-free economy has started.
The goal is to eventually offer residents and local businesses only electric vehicles, which will run solely on renewable energy.
To begin with, Citroën is providing a fleet of six electric vehicles to the public authorities on the island of Chalki, namely two Ami for the police and the coast guard, as well as two ë- C4s and one ë-Spacetourer for the municipality.
An ë-Jumpy will also be delivered to the local energy community.
“This project will change the lives of a few people for the time being, but it's only the beginning.
By helping this island to become a “green” economy without any emissions, Citroën is paving the way for a better future and showing that electrification is the way to go, ”commented Vincent Cobée, head of the chevron brand.
