A rocketing rise in real estate prices in Damascus..a billion and a half for an apartment in the city center
Construction and real estate prices did not deviate from the skyrocketing rise of almost everything in Syria in general and in Damascus in particular, where house prices reach one billion Syrian pounds, while the cost of clothing is equal to, if not exceeded, the costs of construction.
The local newspaper "Al-Watan" quoted the expert in engineering economics, Dr. Muhammad Al-Jalali, that the prices of building and cladding materials in general have become significantly higher today due to the fluctuation in the exchange rate, especially imported clothing materials.
He stated that the cost of covering a square meter of the property today is equivalent to the cost of building it, and its cost could range between 500 thousand and one million Syrian pounds.
With regard to real estate prices currently, he pointed out that a small house located in the heart of Damascus with an area of 100 meters on the Mazzeh highway may reach 1.5 billion pounds, while on the outskirts of the city its price ranges between 300 and 400 million pounds.
