This is another ocean-going intercontinental route that Yangpu ushered in after the opening of the first intercontinental trans-oceanic route of the Hainan Free Trade Port in September 2020.
The "Overall Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port" clarifies that Hainan will establish a more free and open shipping system and build the "China Yangpu Port" registry port.
The relevant person in charge of Hainan Port and Shipping said that the opening of this route marked a substantial improvement in the capacity of Yangpu International Container Terminal to undertake regional ocean trunk lines after the expansion and transformation, and laid the foundation for Yangpu to promote the layout of ocean international trunk lines and the large-scale upgrade of transportation capacity.
Although facing the impact of the unstable operation of the global shipping supply chain, Yangpu International Container Terminal increased 41% and 63% year-on-year in container volume and foreign trade volume from January to October this year, of which the volume of foreign trade transit containers increased by 53% year-on-year. Continue to show strong vitality for rapid development.
Since the opening of Hainan's first sea route connecting the western land and sea channels in Yangpu in December 2018, COSCO SHIPPING has successively opened 5 domestic trade routes, 10 foreign trade routes, and 7 domestic and foreign trade routes in Yangpu.
The Yangpu domestic trade route has basically covered the main basic ports of major coastal areas in China, and the foreign trade route has achieved full coverage of ASEAN coastal countries, and further extended to the South Pacific and Indian Ocean. The initial establishment of Yangpu as a hub and internal connections Domestically and externally, a new pattern of "dual cycle" development that connects ASEAN, the South Pacific and the Indian Ocean.
