Recharge your electric car as you recharge your smartphone, with an external battery: this is the project developed by ZipCharge.

Called Go, it takes the form of a portable energy store that is easy to carry, reports

Auto Plus

.

The idea is to put the system in its trunk and take it out when the car runs out of power and a charging station is too far away.

The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is comparable to the one fitted to the vehicle, only its format differs.

The case, weighing 20 kg, is equipped with 4G connectivity which allows the motorist to view the charging time and other information.

Between 20 and 40 km of autonomy

The battery plugs into any power outlet.

The storage capacity goes up to 8 kWh and could deliver a power of 7.2 kW.

This corresponds to the characteristics of the batteries fitted to plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Autonomy oscillates between 20 and 40 km for 30 minutes of recharging, specifies

NeoZone

.

A more powerful model allowing to obtain a range of 74 km would already be in the pipes, as well as smaller models.

The selling price of the ZipCharge Go suitcase, which will be on sale by the end of 2022, is not yet known.

It could be comparable to that of a 7kW home car charger.

The rental amount is set at 60 euros per month.
