Amid the recent shortage of urea water in Korea, the government held an external economic and security strategy meeting presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki on the afternoon of the 7th to discuss countermeasures.

Currently, the government is requesting a prompt customs inspection from China, which has virtually restricted the export of urea, the main raw material for urea water, and is pursuing a plan to diversify import routes to countries in the Middle East.

A crackdown on the sale of urea water for vehicles was also announced.

The government announced that it would temporarily postpone the inspection of illegal vehicles in order to resolve the shortage of urea water first.
