Cut off the million "business experience" behind the game rental account

Not long ago, in a guesthouse in Taihu Lake, Jiangsu, more than 20 employees of an Internet company were "team building".

The police controlled all this group of people.

It turned out that the online company was suspected of illegally buying and selling citizens’ personal information and illegally renting out game accounts.

Since 2020, this gang has managed to rent out more than 500 real-name verified game accounts to minors, earning more than 3 million yuan in profits.

Recently, the Jianye Branch of the Nanjing Public Security Bureau captured this criminal gang that illegally bought and sold citizens’ personal information and illegally rented out game accounts, and arrested two other criminal gangs based on clues, involving more than 40 people.

"Doesn’t the game platform have a'minor addiction prevention' system? Why can my child play games all day long?" Not long ago, a parent asked at a network security promotion activity of the Nanjing Public Security Bureau Network Security Division. .

In August this year, the National Press and Publication Administration issued the “Notice on Further Strict Management and Effective Prevention of Minors’ Addiction to Online Games”, requiring strict restrictions on the time for providing online game services to minors. All online game companies are only allowed on Fridays. , Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays, provide one-hour service to minors from 20 to 21:00 every day, and no online game service to minors in any form at other times.

Could it be that someone is destroying the computer system and illegally renting out game accounts to minors?

The Jianye District Public Security Bureau attached great importance to this clue and launched an investigation on it.

The police investigation found that there are 4 online shops that rent out real-name verified online game accounts, and the number of rentals is very large, with a large number of renters.

An online company is the operator behind these online shops. The company is located in a city around Nanjing. It claims that its business includes information consulting and online product services, but its main business is to rent out game accounts.

According to Shen Che, a police officer from the Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau's Cyber Security Division in Jianye District, for gamers, to log in to the game platform, real-name verification and dynamic avatar verification are required.

This group first illegally purchased a large amount of citizens’ personal information, such as names, ID numbers, ID photos, etc., collected various game accounts through informal channels, bound the accounts with the purchased information, and used matching mobile phones and The software produced dynamic avatars, which cracked the game company’s "anti-indulge for minors" system, and then rented out the account, and most of the objects of the rented account were minors.

Shen Che told reporters that when the company's online store releases products on the online shopping platform, it will not directly claim rental accounts, but will sell game skins and gold coins to cover people's eyes, but the price of the goods is much lower than the market price of game skins or gold coins. , The price is divided according to the game account level, generally 2-10 yuan.

"Although the unit price is not high, but renting out hundreds of accounts at the same time within 24 hours, the income is very considerable." Chen Enhao, deputy director of the Shuangzha Police Station of Jianye Public Security Bureau, introduced that Jiang found that renting game accounts was profitable last year and formed a gang. , Has made a profit of more than 3 million yuan so far.

The gang has a clear division of labor, with four or five technicians and more than 10 "customers".

The technical staff is responsible for technical maintenance, and the customer service is responsible for receiving orders, renting accounts, and follow-up services.

If there is too much business, they will also outsource the "business" of making dynamic avatars online, and netizens will take orders.

Prior to this, Jiang was anxious about the lack of manpower, which affected the expansion of the business, and was openly recruiting "customer service" personnel.

After grasping the suspected criminal evidence and the suspect's whereabouts, the Jianye police began to close the net.

A group of policemen rushed to the company's premises and found that except for a few people in the company, only a few desktop computers were left at the scene. Another group of policemen rushed to Taihu Lake, 200 kilometers away, to arrest them.

At 1 o'clock on the night of September 16, Nanjing Jianye police arrested all the gang members.

Due to the high demand for business, even during vacations, there are still a few men who carry mobile phones and computers with them to "work" in shifts.

At the scene, the police found dozens of modified mobile phones, and Jiang’s computer stored 30,000 personal information of citizens.

According to reports, they bought the personal information from others for two to three million yuan.

After investigation, Jiang has a home, someone specializes in selling personal information, a company in Guangxi sells customized mobile phones, and another company provides software and illegal technical cracking methods.

Based on clues, the Nanjing police continued to expand their results. In late September, they dispatched more than 100 police officers to Anhui and Hunan to destroy two other gangs engaged in the same business, seized more than 40 mobile phones, more than 30 computers, and personal information of citizens involved6 More than 10,000 game accounts were seized and nearly 2,000 illegally rented and sold game accounts were seized.

They were respectively suspected of crimes of infringing on citizens' personal information and providing crimes of intruding and illegally controlling computer information system programs and tools.

At present, 10 of the more than 40 people involved in the case have been criminally coercive measures taken by the Nanjing Jianye police.

Professor Ma Yong, director of the Psychology Teaching and Research Section of Jiangsu Police Academy, believes that the long-term addiction of young people to games has exposed the lack of family education and guardianship. Parents can replace online games with other things that children are interested in, so that children can find a sense of pleasure, accomplishment, and value. And a sense of belonging, gradually establish a connection between the child and the real world, and slowly get out of internet addiction.
