This win reflects the UAE's pioneering efforts regionally and globally in terms of the quality infrastructure file as a key element in adopting advanced technology in the industrial sector, while working to increase its production and expand its markets by increasing internal confidence in the Emirati product to enhance its competitive opportunities in global markets, in addition to creating an environment Suitable and attractive business for investors in the country.

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology represented the UAE in the work of the twenty-second meeting of the Board of Directors of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries "SMIIC", which concluded on Tuesday with the participation of delegations of Islamic countries and regional and international organizations, which aims to activate cooperation and joint Islamic action in the field of standardization. Which is reflected in promoting economic and industrial growth, and maximizing the benefit of intra-regional trade among member states.

The UAE delegation was headed by Omar Suwain Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, who stressed that the election of the UAE reflects the national merit in the quality infrastructure file at the regional and global levels, and proves the good international reputation that the UAE enjoys, especially in light of the national strategy. Industry and advanced technology have a "300 billion project", which bears the responsibility of developing the industries of the future, strengthening the knowledge economy and spreading the applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the industrial sector.

Al Suwaidi said: "The UAE is always keen to participate in international organizations and gatherings specialized in the field of quality infrastructure, given the importance of its role in removing technical obstacles to trade and unifying concepts of industrial production. The meetings of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries came a few weeks after we hosted The successful meetings of the 85th session of the General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Organization attended by 88 countries, and before that the second session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Summit on Science and Technology, during which the country leads efforts within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to strengthen partnerships in these sectors.

For her part, Eng. Farah Ali Al Zarooni, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Standards and Legislation Sector, and a member of the delegation confirmed that standards, metrology, conformity and accreditation play a vital role as pillars of the quality infrastructure system, and play a fundamental role in serving the UAE industrial system, while Emirati membership reflects confidence in UAE standardization systems between countries, and it will also reflect positively on improving the capabilities of the UAE system and its impact on enhancing the performance of the national economy.

Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Dr. Ahmed Kwesa Singend, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs, called on Islamic countries to redouble efforts to keep pace with the developments of the market for the halal industry, and for halal products, whose size in 2020 reached the equivalent of $7.2 trillion, and is estimated to reach about $11.2 trillion by 2028.
