A few weeks ago, all homeowners in France were forced to pay property tax.

In two large municipalities in Haut-Rhin, the amount has continued to increase since 2010. A double-digit increase was noted in Mulhouse and Colmar by the National Union of Property Owners (UNPI).

In a study, published last October and spotted by ActuHaut-Rhin, it is specified that the property tax has increased by 31% in Mulhouse and 23.2% in Colmar over the period from 2010 to 2020. The record in this department is taken down by the municipality of Wahlbach (+ 64.5%).

Rates drive up the bill

In Mulhouse, several rates have increased during the last ten years studied by the UNPI such as that of the municipality, the inter-municipality, the Grand-Est region.

This explains the soaring property tax.

In Colmar, the situation is almost similar.

With the exception of the municipal rate which has not changed between 2015 and 2020. It is still 19.83%.

These increases have been evaluated without taking into account the fluctuation of the household waste tax.

However, it has a great influence on the final amount payable by the owners.

In Mulhouse and Colmar, it has decreased in ten years, which lightens the bill slightly.
