"Dubai Electricity" uses the "Blockchain" to receive the lease contract data of 2,000 customers daily

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority announced that it receives lease contract data for about 2,000 customers daily, who register their housing unit contracts for the first time, or renew lease contracts. And water once the “Ejari” contract is attested at any of the real estate offices and printing centers approved by the Dubai Land Department, without the need to visit the Authority’s customer happiness centers.

She emphasized that linking with the "Ejari" system also allows automatic updating of the annual rental value in the authority's system at the time of annual renewal, thus updating housing fees, and the customer not having to visit Dubai Municipality to adjust the annual rent value.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, ​​said: “We work at DEWA within the framework of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that the smart government goes to people and does not wait for them to come. Therefore, the authority has strengthened reliance on artificial intelligence, and developed its infrastructure that provides smart and innovative services that save the time and effort of more than one million customers in Dubai, and achieve their happiness, in addition to contributing to efforts to preserve the environment, by eliminating the use of paper within the framework of ( Dubai Paperless Transaction Strategy) launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, stressing that the authority has completed the digital transformation of all its operations and services by 100%.

He explained that the "Blockchain" platform, through which the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and the Dubai Land Department were linked in 2017, is the first "Blockchain" technology initiative at the level of the Dubai government, and enables the participating parties to "automate" the process of renewing lease contracts, and issuing a contract "Ejari", and activating electricity and water services, to enhance the customers' experience and achieve their happiness.


He pointed out that the authority has a strategy for digital transactions, and was one of the first government agencies to adopt “blockchain” technology in a number of its services and initiatives, including registration for the “green charger” service for electric cars, and the registration and renewal of smart lease contracts, in cooperation with the Wasl Group to manage Assets and Dubai Land Department, in addition to the Government Payments Settlement System.
