The impact of the global semiconductor shortage is also affecting the production of game consoles.

Nintendo has reduced the forecast sales volume of its flagship game console "Nintendo Switch" this year to 24 million units, which is 1.5 million units less than the initial forecast.

This was revealed at an online press conference of this year's interim results held by Nintendo on the 4th.

According to this, the estimated sales volume of "Nintendo Switch" this year is expected to be 24 million units in Japan and overseas, which is 1.5 million units, or 5.9% less than the initial forecast.

This is because the production plan was reviewed and the planned shipment volume was reduced due to the impact of the global semiconductor shortage.

However, due to strong sales of game software, the final profit forecast for this fiscal year has been revised upward from the initial 340 billion yen to 350 billion yen.

At the press conference, President Shuntaro Furukawa said, "The pace of switch production may not meet the demand for future sales, but we would like to produce as many as possible."
