The Shaanxi Provincial Government and the Hubei Provincial Government officially approved this, marking that this fast and high-speed passenger passage that passes through the Qinling Mountains and connects the two metropolitan areas of Xi'an and Wuhan has the prerequisites for construction.

  The West Ten High-speed Railway is an important part of China’s mid- and long-term railway network planning Yinchuan-Wuhan high-speed rail. It starts from the Xi’an East Station in the Xi’an hub, passes through the Qinling Mountains in the southeast, passes through the cities of Shangluo and Shiyan, and connects to the existing Shiyan East Station. It is connected with the completed Han-10 high-speed railway to realize direct connection between Xi'an and Wuhan. After completion, Xi'an and Wuhan can be quickly connected in 2 hours.

  According to the official introduction of the Xi'an Bureau Group Company, the new main line of the West Ten High-speed Railway has a total length of 255.7 kilometers, including 169.4 kilometers in Shaanxi and 86.3 kilometers in Hubei, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The whole line runs through the Weihe Basin and the Qinling Mountains, connecting the Guanzhong Plain and the Jianghan Plain, passing through Xi'an Baqiao District, Chang'an District, Lantian County, Shangluo City, Shangzhou District, Shanyang County, Shiyan City, Yunxi County, Yunyang District, and Zhang Bay area.

There are 7 stations in Xi'an East, Lantian, Shangluo West, Shanyang, Manchuanguan, Yunxi and Shiyan East (existing operations).

  It is understood that the total length of the new bridge and tunnel of the project is 242.9 kilometers, and the bridge-to-tunnel ratio is as high as 94.9%. The longest tunnel on the entire line is the 22.9-kilometer Qinling Mabaishan Tunnel.

The Hanjiang River Bridge has a main span of 420 meters and is the first high-speed rail cable-stayed bridge with a girder-truss composite structure in China.

  In order to build the West Ten High-speed Railway into a green high-speed railway with technological innovation and coordinated development of ecological environment, Xi’an Bureau Group Company and Xicheng Railway Shaanxi Company actively coordinated to promote the timely approval of the environmental impact assessment report of the West Ten High-speed Railway, and determined Xi’an East Railway Station and Shangluo West Railway Station. Station construction scale and implementation plan; give full play to industry management advantages and actively participate in the design of key bridges and tunnels. In particular, the Qinling Mabaishan Tunnel, Xiling Tunnel and other long tunnels such as the single tunnel to double tunnel plan were studied in detail, from an operational perspective Proposed optimization technical design recommendations, laying a solid foundation for the approval of the preliminary design of the West Ten High-speed Railway.

  With the approval of this preliminary design document, the Xi'an-Shiyan section of the West-Ten High-speed Railway is expected to start construction within this year.

After the completion of the project, it will form a convenient high-speed rail channel between Xi’an and Wuhan. It is of great significance to link the urban agglomerations in the middle of the Yangtze River, improve the layout of the national high-speed railway network, promote the revitalization of the Qinba mountainous villages, and accelerate the tourism and social and economic development along the line.
