The service union Verdi wants to strike Commerzbank in the coming week in the wage dispute over the private banks.

A nationwide strike at the institute will be called for Wednesday, "WirtschaftsWoche" quoted Verdi functionary and Commerzbank supervisory board member Stefan Wittmann on Wednesday.

The strike should start at midnight and last 24 hours.

"We want to paralyze Commerzbank from Flensburg to Garmisch-Partenkirchen," said Wittmann.

The collective bargaining for the approximately 140,000 employees of the private banks has stalled.

"There is not even a new date to continue the talks with the association," said Wittmann.

The employers' association had submitted a salary offer to Verdi that provides for an increase in collective wages by a total of 3.2 percent in three stages over a period of 36 months.

Verdi, on the other hand, demands 4.5 percent more salary for a term of twelve months and at least 150 euros per month.

Employees should also be able to choose individually whether they prefer to have more free time instead of a higher salary.

In addition, Verdi is calling for binding regulations on mobile work.
