Long criticized, the French administration is trying to catch up on dematerialization.

To make life easier for users, the Ministry of Transformation and the Public Service has undertaken for several years to modernize administrative procedures and to integrate an ever greater part of digitalization.

During a progress report in September, the government announced that more than 200 administrative procedures, or 85% of the 250 procedures considered essential in the daily life of the French, could now be completely carried out online.

Bridging the digital divide

Among the most common dematerialized procedures, there is in particular the change of address online, the request for a birth certificate, the registration on the electoral rolls, the change of gray card, the obtaining of an extract of criminal record or the declaration of the sale of his vehicle. And if you do not know which organization to contact, the official administration information site Service-public.fr offers pages dedicated to most of these procedures and refers you to the competent web portals.

But this administrative digitization only represents real progress for those who are comfortable with the Internet. However, according to government estimates, some 13 million citizens are still “remote” from digital today. While a certain number of procedures can no longer be carried out at a physical counter, various measures are therefore aimed at compensating for this “digital divide”.

On a day-to-day basis, people who have difficulty using a computer can call the Solidarité Numérique line on 01 70 772 372, while a digital Pass offered in the form of a checkbook allows them to participate in introductory workshops. or improvement.

In addition, some 1,200 “France Services” centers deployed throughout the region act as physical information desks.

They will also soon welcome the 4,000 digital advisers who must be recruited by 2022. More generally, it is planned to train many social workers and local structures to support citizens in their online administrative procedures.
