People with millions of subscribers on social media use their influence to make a lot of money. The National Tax Service launched a tax investigation on 16 people who did not pay taxes properly while raising their profits.

Influencer A, who has millions of subscribers at home and abroad on social media such as YouTube and Instagram.



I made a lot of money through so-called 'back advertisements' that do not display advertisements in videos even after receiving money from advertisers.



However, it was not enough that this income was not reported, and personal expenses such as renting three supercars and overseas travel were treated as business expenses and no income tax was paid.



Media content creator B received a donation from an overseas sponsoring platform, but did not report it.



They avoided taxes by using an overseas platform that is not easy to understand in Korea and receiving donations through a virtual account.



Mr. B bought six apartments with the income he earned from tax evasion and distributed them to his family, without paying any gift tax.



The National Tax Service conducted a tax investigation on 16 influencers with up to 10 million subscribers and an average of 5.49 million subscribers.

17 people who did not register as a business and hid their income while doing the accommodation business on a shared accommodation platform such as Airbnb were also caught.



They were under investigation by the National Tax Service after hiding their income with a borrowed-name account while renting and operating an average of 34 small houses and up to 100 small houses.



A tax investigation is underway on 126 high-income business owners and tax evaders, including them.
