In the past, it was difficult to open the complete Weibo link on WeChat; on some e-commerce platforms, the word "WeChat" could not even be typed, otherwise it would be blocked; the small video on Douyin could not be viewed on some platforms...The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology launched the Internet in July Industry-specific rectification actions, blocking URL links are listed as one of the key rectification issues.

Yesterday was the deadline for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to remove the blocking of external URL links. Has the issue of "blocking each other" of major apps been improved?

A few days ago, reporters from Beijing Youth Daily experienced the effects of app "interoperability" from three aspects: social media sharing, shopping link sharing, and diversified payment channels.

  Experience one

  Social media sharing

Test App: Weibo, WeChat, Douyin, Kuaishou, Xiaohongshu, Today's Toutiao

The experience test found that among the shareable options, the content of Toutiao can only be shared to "Tik Tok Friends", and its content cannot be directly shared to Weibo, Xiaohongshu, Kuaishou and other platforms, but Toutiao provides a screenshot The "Share" function allows users to share to other platforms by themselves.

The content of Xiaohongshu can be directly shared to platforms such as WeChat and Weibo, but it cannot be played directly after the link is posted on Weibo. You need to click on the "web link".

The content of Xiaohongshu cannot be directly shared to platforms such as Douyin, Kuaishou, and Toutiao, but it provides "manual sharing modes" such as "save to album", "generate sharing pictures", and "copy link".

The content of Kuaishou can be directly shared to WeChat, Weibo and other platforms, but the Weibo platform cannot be played directly after the link is published. After clicking the link, you need to "open on the web" and then jump to Kuaishou to play.

The content of Kuaishou cannot be directly shared to platforms such as Douyin, Xiaohongshu, and Toutiao, but it provides "manual sharing modes" such as "save to album" and "copy link".

TikTok content can be directly shared to Weibo, WeChat, Toutiao and other platforms, but sharing on the WeChat platform must be "copy password" or download the video before sending it to friends.

TikTok content cannot be directly shared to platforms such as Kuaishou and Xiaohongshu, but it provides "manual sharing modes" such as "save to album" and "copy link".

WeChat official account articles cannot be shared to the above-mentioned other test experience apps.

Weibo content can be shared directly to platforms such as WeChat, but the other test experience apps mentioned above cannot be shared directly, but they also provide functions such as "generate long images" and "copy links".

Conclusion: There are still "barriers" to sharing between social media. Although some apps no longer "block external links", the inconvenience still exists for users.

Just like a short video, shared on Weibo, Douyin can be played directly, Xiaohongshu needs to click on the link to play, and Kuaishou needs to go to the webpage and then enter the Kuaishou App to play.

  Experience two

  Shopping link sharing

Test App: Weibo, WeChat, Taobao, JD, Pinduoduo, Meituan, Ctrip.

This time, it is mainly to experience the sharing of links from 5 shopping, life, travel and travel platforms to social platforms.

The experience test found that although Taobao’s product link supports sharing to WeChat and Weibo, after the Weibo is published, the link becomes a line of text, and a line of URL is displayed after clicking it, and at the same time, "If you need to browse, please press and hold the URL to copy. Then use the browser to visit", and you can’t jump directly.

The sharing of goods to WeChat in Taobao is still the way of copying Taobao password, and the shared party still needs to copy the password and then open it in Taobao.

JD.com also supports sharing of product links to WeChat and Weibo, and WeChat sharing links can be opened directly.

However, its Weibo situation is similar to Taobao, requiring a series of operations such as manually copying links. Not only that, but Jingdong's sharing on Weibo may also fail, resulting in only text but no links.

Pinduoduo only supports sharing to WeChat, and WeChat can directly open the sharing link, but it provides the functions of "Share Picture" and "Copy Link".

Meituan supports sharing to WeChat and Weibo, and WeChat can directly open the sharing link.

Weibo not only displays the name, address, and phone number of Meituan merchants in the content, but also provides links that can directly open related pages of Meituan.

Ctrip supports sharing to WeChat and Weibo, and WeChat can directly open the sharing link.

Weibo does not display the name of the merchant in the content, but there is a link that can directly open the relevant page of Ctrip.

Conclusion: In the link sharing experience of shopping and booking, the experience of WeChat is slightly better than that of Weibo, but for most users, Taobao link sharing is more complicated.

  Experience three

  Diversified payment

Test apps: WeChat, Alipay, Taobao, JD, Ele.me, Meituan.

WeChat and Alipay mainly test "payment to merchants" and transfer money/red envelopes between friends, and other apps mainly test diversified payments.

Experience testing found that: WeChat and Alipay currently do not support transfers, red envelopes, and payment behaviors using the other party's App, but support the user's own debit card bound in advance to perform the above operations.

The Taobao platform only supports payment through "Alipay".

In addition to its own JD payment, the JD platform also supports WeChat and Apple Pay.

In addition to its own Meituan Pay, Meituan also supports WeChat Pay, Alipay and Apple Pay.

Ele.me platform uses Alipay to pay by default, but you can choose other methods in the "payment method", such as WeChat and Huabei.

Conclusion: At present, Taobao platform payment methods have not changed much. WeChat and Alipay still need time to communicate with each other, and more emerging shopping platforms provide users with two or more payment options, such as WeChat and Alipay, making it more convenient for users.
