China News Service, October 15th. According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce, the head of the Consumer Promotion Department of the Ministry of Commerce today introduced the state of automobile consumption in China in the first three quarters of this year.

It is reported that from January to September, the sales volume of new energy vehicles by manufacturers was 2.157 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.9 times.

  The person in charge said that from January to September this year, automobile consumption remained stable overall.

The transaction volume of second-hand vehicles and the recycling volume of scrapped motor vehicles have increased significantly; the sales volume of new energy vehicles has reached a new high.

In the same period last year, the base number was low and then high, the chip tension has not yet been alleviated, and the domestic epidemic situation has spread more frequently. The downward pressure on new car sales has increased and continued to be transmitted to retail terminals.

The automobile consumer market mainly presents the following characteristics:

  First, downward pressure on new car sales has increased.

From the perspective of production, from January to September, the new car sales of manufacturers were 18.623 million, a year-on-year increase of 8.7% and a year-on-year increase of 1.3%.

In September, the sales volume was 2.067 million units, an increase of 14.9% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 19.6%, an increase of 0.9 percentage points from the previous month.

From the retail perspective, the retail sales of new vehicles from January to September was 19.462 million, a year-on-year increase of 14.8% and a year-on-year increase of 3.5%.

In September, the sales volume was 2.046 million vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 17.2%, a decline for three consecutive months, and the rate of decline expanded 5.5 percentage points from the previous month.

  Second, sales of new energy vehicles hit a new high.

From January to September, the manufacturer’s sales of new energy vehicles were 2.157 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.9 times and a year-on-year increase of 1.4 times, accounting for 11.6% of the manufacturer’s new car sales.

In September, the sales volume was 357,000 vehicles, an increase of 1.5 times year-on-year, which set a new single-month historical record again.

  Third, the trading of used cars continued to be active.

From January to September, the transaction volume of second-hand cars was 12.967 million, a year-on-year increase of 35.3% and a year-on-year increase of 22.5%.

In September, the transaction volume of second-hand cars was 1.575 million, an increase of 5.4% month-on-month and 7.4% year-on-year; the ratio between the transaction volume of second-hand cars and new cars reached 0.76.

  The fourth is to accelerate the obsolescence and elimination of old motor vehicles.

As of the end of September, the number of scrapped motor vehicle recycling and dismantling enterprises nationwide reached 916, an increase of 141 from the end of 2020.

From January to September, 2.106 million scrapped motor vehicles were recycled, a year-on-year increase of 35.9% and a year-on-year increase of 27.3%.

In September, 274,000 vehicles were recycled, a year-on-year increase of 30.2%.
