China News Service, Chongqing, October 14 (Liang Qinqing) "Among the many problems in the world today, energy and environmental issues are major problems facing all mankind. The establishment of a clean and renewable new energy system is an inevitable choice for human society." At the National Postdoctoral Academic Achievement Forum of "Material Science and Great Powers and Heavy Materials" held in Chongqing Liangjiang New District, Wu Feng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of Beijing Institute of Technology, said this.

Focusing on the strategic layout of a manufacturing power, this forum presents the latest research results in basic science and frontier hot issues in the field of new materials, and aims to build a high-end academic exchange platform for the development of the new materials industry, and promote the transformation of advanced achievements and cooperation between industry, university and research.

Wu Feng gave a keynote report entitled "Research Progress of New Type Secondary Batteries and Their Key Materials" at the conference.

He introduced that electric vehicles are considered to be the direction of the future development of clean transportation, and its 100-year development history shows that secondary batteries are the main technical bottleneck for the development of electric vehicles and new types of clean transportation.

"Secondary batteries are currently a hotspot in international competition for research and development, and they have become a key link in major applications such as the new generation of information and communications, electric vehicles, energy storage power stations, and the energy Internet." Wu Feng said, "National Medium and Long-term Science and Technology Development Plan Outline (2006-2020)" and "Energy-saving and New Energy Automobile Industry Development Plan (2012-2020)" both clearly stated that the focus is on supporting the research and development of key materials, batteries, systems and other technologies for power batteries in new secondary batteries, and Increasing battery energy density is one of the key indicators.

Wu Feng specifically mentioned that the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to the "Father of International Lithium Batteries" and other three scientists for their contributions in the "Development of Lithium Ion Batteries".

Nowadays, light-weight, rechargeable lithium batteries are used in mobile phones, notebook computers, electric vehicles and other fields. It can also store a large amount of energy from solar and wind energy, making a fossil fuel-free society possible, "creating a Rechargeable society".

"Automotive electrification is an irreversible world trend." Wu Feng said at the meeting that the development trend of China's new energy vehicle technology is mainly developed from the following six aspects: energy low-carbon, power electrification, lightweight body, manufacturing informatization, The whole vehicle is intelligent and the transportation network is connected.

He said that the electric vehicles of the future are the basic unit of "smart transportation" and "smart city", thus promoting the energy revolution, information revolution, and transportation revolution.

In the context of the deep integration of energy and information, Wu Feng introduced that the 5G era requires a large number of autonomous power supply sensor systems, and the core technology is "high integration of energy harvesting + battery + embedded computing control system."

In addition, the battery cell will be closely coupled with the information system during the production process to form a digital battery, that is, a smart battery, which is analogous to the change from a disk to a hard disk.

"It is foreseeable that when the chip enters the battery, the emergence of smart batteries will subvert the structure of the battery system, will also further improve the safety performance of the power battery, and become an important part of intelligence." Wu Feng said.
