“When it comes to energy, as a politician in foreign affairs, I know that the more sources and supply routes, the better.

Therefore, we were pleased when Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia and our country Hungary were able to coordinate and join forces to create a new supply route from the southern direction, allowing to deliver to this region not only Gazprom's gas from Russia, but also gas from Azerbaijan, from the Caucasus region. through the southern gas transportation corridor, ”said the Hungarian Foreign Minister.

He stressed that with the readiness of permits and licenses, the operation of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will not harm the interests of the country.

“I emphasize again: the more sources and supply routes, the better.

Of course, these projects must comply with European regulations, but if this condition is met, then I do not see any problems here.

I understand that the Germans are large consumers of Russian gas and that it is important for them to have another supply route.

And this does not affect our interests, since the long-term gas agreement that we signed with Gazprom two weeks ago covers two supply routes: one through Austria and another from the south.

So we will not suffer anyway, ”Siyarto said.

Gazprom and Hungary signed a gas supply contract until the end of 2036.

The agreement entered into force on October 1.

Gas is supplied bypassing Ukraine through the Balkan Stream gas pipeline, which is a continuation of the Turkish Stream, and through pipelines in South-Eastern Europe.
