"Within the framework of the Russian Energy Week-2021 (REW), a meeting was held between the Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, and the Chief Executive Officer of BP, Bernard Looney," the message says.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation, including the possibility of gas supplies to Europe under an export agreement between the companies.

As noted by Sechin, the implementation of a pilot project to export 10 billion cubic meters of gas from Rosneft resources under an agreement with BP would allow in the future to provide additional gas supplies to the European market.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that an increase in supplies via the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline could ease tensions on the European gas market.
