Since the demand for eating out has decreased due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the amount of rice has become surplus, so the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has decided to take measures to actually separate 150,000 tons of rice from the market as a special frame to prevent price declines. I did.

This was explained by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries at a meeting of the Liberal Democratic Party held on the 12th.

Among them, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has set a special quota of 150,000 tons of the 370,000 tons of rice produced last year for sale after November in order to prevent the price of rice from falling. In effect, I decided to separate it from the market.

If you keep the special rice for a long time without putting it on the market, the government will bear the full cost.

In addition, when selling rice to children's cafeterias and food banks, the full price will be subsidized, and when selling it for eating out, lunch boxes, and delicatessen items, half of the price will be subsidized.

Due to the decrease in demand for eating out due to the influence of the new coronavirus, there is a surplus of rice, and the private inventory of rice at the end of August was 1.18 million tons, an increase of 170,000 tons compared to the same period last year.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries hopes to officially announce the details of the system in the future.
