At present, Hunan has a total of 4123 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine resources, and the total reserves of traditional Chinese medicine materials rank second in the country.
Among the 361 commonly used key Chinese medicinal materials in China, Hunan has 241.
In recent years, Hunan has integrated the development of traditional Chinese medicine into the strategy of "three highs and four new", and has continued to exert efforts in various links such as Chinese medicinal material planting, Chinese medicine industry, and Chinese medicine cultural tourism to create a Chinese medicine industry of 100 billion yuan.
