The General Authority of Civil Aviation revealed an increase in the average number of air traffic in the country from 1,238 movements at the end of 2020 to 1,538 air movements in September 2021, an increase of 24.2%.

The Director-General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, said that air traffic across the Emirates witnessed a remarkable increase, especially in the period leading up to the launch of Expo 2020 Dubai.

Al-Suwaidi confirmed that the civil aviation sector in the country has recovered, noting that the numbers of air traffic recorded by the country during the previous months of this year are promising, and they are likely to improve further with the continuation of the “Expo 2020 Dubai” activities, in addition to upcoming events, such as celebrations. The year of the fiftieth year, and the beginning of the winter season, which is expected to witness a distinguished tourist season.

In addition, a recent report issued by the authority revealed the growth of destinations for national carriers to 108 countries, benefiting from logistical services provided by 10 licensed airports until 2020 and 895 registered aircraft.

The report pointed out the critical importance of the aviation sector in the country, as it contributes $47.4 billion to the national economy, which represents 13.3% of the country's GDP, while providing 800,000 jobs, and the UAE aviation market is one of the largest attracting capital. and investments related to the sector.

The report confirmed that the authority worked during the critical period witnessed by the sector globally to support strategic partners and national carriers, as it succeeded in restoring previous operating rates.

The report referred to the country's civil aviation safety system, which is the best in the world, pointing out that the country was able to achieve the first rank globally among 189 countries in 2015 in compliance with aviation safety oversight by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with a rate of 98.86. %, which is the highest rate granted by the organization in its history.

The UAE also maintained the first position with the continuity of ICAO audits on 133 countries until 2021.
