Seventh and final visit to Jerusalem as Chancellor for Angela Merkel.

A highlight and symbolic: she participated in the weekly Council of Ministers of the government before going to the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial.

The two-state solution must remain on the agenda, she said, but Israel's security remains paramount: “

It is fortunate that it has been possible to reset and restore relations between the 'Germany and Israel to such an extent, after the crimes against humanity of the Holocaust.

Israel's security will always be of utmost importance and a central issue in every German government

.

"

Germany's unwavering friendship

The Israeli Prime Minister welcomes the strong relations between the two countries and highlights the subject that most worries his government: “

Israel's responsibility is to ensure not by speeches but by actions that Iran does not do not get the atomic weapon.

Never.

For us it is not a strategic problem but an existential question!

"

In Israel, Germany's steadfast friendship is underlined and it is hoped that it will continue in the post-Merkel era.
