It was in Doha that Washington and the Taliban negotiated the departure of American troops, and it is also in Doha that the dialogue between the United States and the new masters of Afghanistan continues.

Youssef al-Khater is a former Qatari diplomat, he was Ambassador to the United Kingdom and has just been elected to the Shura, the Consultative Assembly of his country.

“

Qatar has been a good intermediary in many conflicts,” he

 explains, “

and this has given us some credibility.

This inspires confidence in the Qatari government's efforts to find solutions, to provide appropriate solutions, to the suffering of populations in many countries, and this applies to the situation in Afghanistan.

 "

Off the microphone, other Qatari sources tell us about the difficulties of this mediation, faced with the Taliban who chose the hard line to compose their new government, far from being inclusive.

Along with its diplomatic efforts, Qatar continues to charter planes between Kabul and Doha to evacuate Afghan civilians, in agreement with the Taliban.

A new flight is announced at the start of this week.
