“As a result, the Joint Statement of the United States of America and Germany was adopted in support of Ukraine, European energy security and our climate goals,” RIA Novosti reported.

The response says that "the federal government assumes that on this basis it will be possible to operate the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline."

On October 4, it was reported that the operator Nord Stream 2 AG began filling the first string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline with gas; it will be gradually filled in order to achieve the required pressure for further testing.

The construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was fully completed on 10 September.
