The Japan Post Group has decided to consolidate more than 2,000 sales offices nationwide to about 30% due to the problem of improper sales of Japan Post Insurance.

The aim is to strengthen the management system at the sales floor and prevent recurrence.

Japan Post Insurance is currently operated by approximately 12,000 employees of Japan Post, with offices in more than 2,000 post offices nationwide.

Regarding this, the Japan Post Group will gradually reduce the number of sales offices from January next year, and will consolidate it to about 600 locations, which is about 30% of the current number.

Furthermore, from April next year, Japan Post employees who are in charge of insurance sales will be seconded to Japan Post Insurance.

Through these measures, Japan Post Insurance aims to prevent recurrence by strengthening the management system so that it can grasp the actual situation at the site and carry out sales activities appropriately.

On the other hand, in areas where it becomes difficult for sales staff to visit due to the consolidation of bases, local post office employees who have been responsible for insurance sales at the counter will take over customers.

Japan Post Insurance has resumed sales activities since April, and it will be asked whether a series of recurrence prevention measures can restore the trust of customers.
