Seibu Holdings, which develops railway and hotel businesses, will enter the outdoor business by establishing a new joint venture with a company that operates a campsite reservation site in October.

Seibu Holdings and Chiba Prefecture's company "R.project", which operates the largest campsite reservation site, announced this at a press conference in Tokyo on the 28th.

According to this, the two companies will launch a joint venture on October 1st.

Specifically, we plan to utilize the outdoor facility management know-how of the reservation site management company to develop campsites and barbecue facilities at idle land owned by Seibu Holdings in resort areas nationwide.

As candidate sites, we assume tourist destinations such as Karuizawa in Nagano Prefecture and Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture that are easy to attract customers.

Seibu Holdings' final loss last year exceeded 70 billion yen due to the impact of the new coronavirus, and the challenge is to create a new source of revenue.

The company wants to secure sales of 2 to 3 billion yen in the outdoor business in 2030.

At the press conference, President Takashi Goto of Seibu Holdings said, "The value of the outdoors is being reviewed in With Corona. We would like to make new businesses a major pillar of management reform."
