The mobilization meeting for the construction of the new Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu Yanjiang High-speed Railway (“Shanghai-Yichang High-speed Railway”) Wuhan-Yichang section was held on September 25 in Jingmen City, Hubei Province, which opened the 350-kilometer-per-hour high-speed railway line Construction prelude.

The relevant person in charge of China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Railway Group") introduced that the Wuhan-Yichang section of the newly built Shanghai-Yuyang high-speed railway along the Yangtze River is located in Hubei Province, starting from Wuhan City, passing through Tianmen City and Jingmen City, and ending at Yichang City, the main line is 313 kilometers in length, with 8 stations in Hankou (existing), Hanchuan East, Tianmen North, Jingshan South, Zhongxiang South, Jingmen West, Dangyang West, and Yichang North. The design speed is 350 kilometers per hour. The total investment of the project 52.27 billion yuan, with a total construction period of 4 years.

The new Shanghai-Chongqing-Rongjiang high-speed rail is an important part of the Yangtze River Passage in the "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" main passages in the "Medium and Long-term Railway Network Planning" and the passenger transport passage along the Yangtze River in the "Implementation Plan for Promoting the Construction of High-speed Railway Passages along the Yangtze River Economic Belt".

Among them, the Wuhan-Yichang section connects the Hefei-Wuhan section in the east, the Yichang-Fuling section in the west, connects with the Hewu and Wujiu high-speed railways at the Wuhan hub, and connects with the Zhengwan high-speed railway through the Yichang-Xingshan high-speed railway under construction in Yichang.

After the completion of the project, the space-time distance between Wuhan and Yichang will be greatly reduced, which will be of great significance for supporting the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and promoting Hubei to accelerate the establishment of a strategic fulcrum for the rise of Central China.
