"After the panda sea shed cave and the panda sea tunnel are completed, there will be no bottleneck in the roads of the Jiuzhaigou scenic spot." said Zhou Shuiping, director of the Engineering Supervision Company of Sichuan Provincial Highway Institute. More than 300 days and nights.

On August 8, 2017, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurred in Jiuzhaigou County. Part of the infrastructure in the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area was damaged. The section from Wuhuahai to the virgin forest was particularly serious.

On November 8th of the same year, the post-disaster reconstruction of Jiuzhaigou was officially launched.

On September 27, 2019, after the completion of the first and second phases of the post-disaster protection, restoration and reconstruction project, the Jiuzhaigou scenic spot once again welcomed visitors, opening 85% of the scenic spots.

Immediately afterwards, the third phase of the reconstruction project started, including the Wuhuahai to virgin forest road 12.928 kilometers and Heijiaozhai road 4.928 kilometers.

Among them, the Panda Sea Tunnel with a length of 918 meters and the Panda Sea Shed Cave with a length of 300 meters are control projects for the road construction of the third phase of reconstruction, which can be described as the "hard bones" of post-disaster reconstruction.

The Panda Sea Shed Cave started on November 10, 2020 and was completed at the end of July this year.

The Pandahai Tunnel started construction on August 18, 2020. It took nearly a year for workers to excavate in both directions, and it was successfully completed on August 11 this year.

Zhou Shuiping introduced that at present, the entire project is implementing subsequent tunnel electromechanical, guardrail installation, marking, greening and other ancillary projects. By then, the road’s "face value" and safety factor will also be comprehensively improved.

Zhou Shuiping also revealed a good news: in the future, the Panda Sea Tunnel will be equipped with a large LED projection 3D screen.

Currently, the scenic area is making projection screens. The four seasons of Jiuzhai will be projected onto the tunnel through projection. Visitors can travel through the "temporal tunnel" to the panda sea and virgin forest.

According to news from Sichuan Road and Bridge, the construction unit plans to install two 50-meter projections and two LED curved screens in the Panda Sea Tunnel, which are currently being installed.

According to Zhang He, deputy manager of Sichuan Road and Bridge Project, “According to the plan, at the end of October this year, a naked-eye 3D large screen of more than 1,500 square meters will be displayed in front of tourists, and tourists can experience the feeling of traveling through time and space.”

Seeing Jiuzhaigou becoming beautiful day by day, like the workers, Zhang He and Zhou Shuiping are also happy for it. They also want to complete the work as soon as possible so that tourists from all over the world can come here to appreciate its beauty.
