The London Underground has seen a major change.

Two Northern Line stations opened on Monday in the south-west of the British capital.

The first tube left the new Battersea Power Station early in the morning and stopped first in Nine Elms, where the new US embassy is located.

The two stations would play a huge role in the economic recovery from the corona pandemic, Mayor Sadiq Khan said.

Transport for London estimates that the extension could help boost 25,000 new parking spaces and 20,000 new homes.

The new route cost around 1.1 billion pounds (1.28 billion euros), including a 3.2 kilometer long tunnel. It is the first significant expansion of the route network since the Jubilee Line opened in 1999. The world-famous tube now has 273 stations in total.
