Experience in aquaculture development is an important platform for discussing future global aquaculture development plans." In 1989, China's aquatic product output jumped to the first place in the world; in 2020, the total output reached 65.49 million tons, of which aquaculture products accounted for 79.8%.

At present, China's farmed aquatic products account for more than 60% of the world's total aquatic product farming output.

  Liu Xinzhong said that the rapid development of China's aquaculture industry has not only improved the food and nutrition structure of the Chinese people and prospered the rural economy, but also played an important role in ensuring food security, reducing poverty, and protecting the ecological environment.

In 2020, there will be more than 300 species of aquaculture in China, and the annual per capita quantity of aquatic products will be 37 kg, which is twice the world average.

The proportion of fishery output value in agricultural output value increased from 1.6% in 1978 to 9.27% ​​in 2020.

In 2020, the population specializing in aquaculture will reach 4.575 million, which is 8.8 times that of 1978; the per capita net income of fishermen will reach 21,837 yuan, which is 35 times that of 1985.

The domestic marine fishing output dropped from 12.419,400 tons in 2011 to 9,474,100 tons in 2020, a decrease of 23.7%, which greatly eased the pressure on the protection and utilization of natural fishery resources.

  It is reported that the Global Aquaculture Conference was initiated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and is held every ten years. It has been held three times before. The 4th Global Aquaculture Conference was held in China and received extensive support and attention from relevant international organizations and countries around the world. At present, there are more than 2,700 people who have signed up for this conference, and more than 2,200 people have participated online, from 120 countries, regions, economies and related international and regional organizations.
