The business movement report, issued by the commercial registration and licensing sector in the Dubai Economy, revealed that 5,885 new licenses were issued during August of the year 2021, a growth of 54% compared to the same period in 2020, when 3,829 licenses were issued.
The numbers reflect the facilities related to doing business and simplifying the requirements and procedures for starting a business in Dubai, which contributes to raising the competitiveness of the business environment to world-leading levels, and enhancing the emirate's position as a global city and the best destination for living and working in the world.
The report showed that the new licenses issued during August 2021 were distributed according to the license category, at the forefront of which were professional licenses, which registered 3,473 licenses, or 59%, followed by "commercial" licenses that registered 2,378 licenses by 40%, and then "industrial" licenses by 1%.

The figures confirm the efforts of the Dubai Economy in facilitating the procedures of transactions and commercial licenses in Dubai, and the keenness of the commercial registration and licensing sector to keep pace with everything new, to develop and provide value-added services and initiatives to customers, within high quality standards, to reach the main goal, which is to advance the Emirate of Dubai. Geographical distribution
The report highlighted the distribution of new licenses issued during August 2021, according to the main regions in the Emirate of Dubai, as the largest share was the "Bur Dubai" region with a total of 4,299 licenses, then the "Deira" region with a total of 1,577 licenses, and finally the "Hatta" region with nine commercial licenses New.
Legal form
As for the legal form of the new licenses issued during August 2021, individual institutions accounted for about 38% of the total, while “civil works” and “limited liability companies” accounted for 23.5% each.
The rest of the list of legal forms included: limited liability companies - one person;
branches of companies based in another emirate;
branches of companies/enterprises based in a free zone;
and branches of foreign companies.
