China News Service, Nanning, September 11 (Lin Jieqi) The General Administration of Customs and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region released the China-ASEAN Trade Index for the first time at the 18th China-ASEAN Expo on the 11th.

The index shows that the China-ASEAN trade index in 2020 is 241.09 points, an increase of 19.64% over 2019 and an increase of 141.09% over 2010, indicating that China's import and export trade with ASEAN continues to grow steadily.

According to Li Kuiwen, spokesperson of the General Administration of Customs and Director of the Statistical Analysis Department, the index has established a scientific and reasonable indicator with the characteristics of China-ASEAN trade from five dimensions: close trade, trade quality, trade potential, trade vitality, and trade environment. The system, through the quantitative evaluation of the trade situation, visually displays the development level and prospects of bilateral trade, is the "barometer" and "weathervane" of the development of bilateral trade, and will provide a scientific basis for government departments to formulate trade policies and provide a scientific basis for import and export. High-level "going out" and high-quality "bringing in" enterprises provide information support.

In 2020, facing the severe impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, my country and ASEAN countries have carried out extensive anti-epidemic cooperation to effectively maintain the stability of the regional industrial chain supply chain and ensure the development of bilateral trade. For the first time, ASEAN has become my country's largest trading partner.

According to customs statistics, in the first eight months of this year, my country’s imports and exports to ASEAN were 3.59 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.8%, accounting for 14.5% of my country’s total foreign trade imports and exports during the same period. ASEAN continued to be my country’s largest trading partner.
