In his speech, he said that this China-ASEAN Expo is of great significance-it coincides with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of dialogue relations between China and ASEAN, and this year is also the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei and China.

　　Hassanal delivered a video speech at the opening meeting of the 18th China-ASEAN Expo held here that day.

He said that through continuous development in the past 18 years, the China-ASEAN Expo has become an important platform for promoting trade, investment, and tourism, and has strengthened the economic cooperation relationship between ASEAN and China.

It is believed that the China-ASEAN Expo will continue to make China an extremely attractive export market for ASEAN products, and further promote the improvement of bilateral trade relations, so that China will maintain its status as a major trading partner of ASEAN.

　　Hassanal said that although the current epidemic is still raging and has severely affected global economic activities, China and ASEAN bilateral commodity trade will still achieve overall growth in 2020, and he is encouraged by China's becoming ASEAN's largest trading partner.

　　He called on: "On this solid foundation, we should work together to slow down the impact of the epidemic and accelerate regional recovery efforts."

　　Hassanal also pointed out that China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative is of great significance. It will further promote interconnectivity in the region and bring us closer to each other.

He said that the “Belt and Road” initiative has brought us many opportunities to promote cooperation in multiple fields through sub-regional activities including the Eastern ASEAN Growth Area to further promote our economic growth.
