Dirk Roßmann, founder and partner of the Rossmann drugstore, is retiring as the company's managing director.

Dirk Rossmann GmbH announced this on Monday in Burgwedel near Hanover.

At the age of 75, he will retire from the business on September 30th.

According to the company, his younger son Raoul Roßmann will be the spokesman for the Rossmann management.

The Roßmann family continue to carry out "a smooth handover of corporate responsibility," announced the company.

The 36-year-old Raoul Roßmann has been responsible for and shaped the operative business of the drugstore for several years; since 2015 he has been Managing Director for Purchasing and Marketing.

Alice Schardt-Roßmann, Michael Rybak and Peter Dreher are also on the management board.

Dirk Roßmann remains on the advisory board of the Rossmann drugstores as well as managing director and spokesman for Rossmann Beteiligungs GmbH, which is 100 percent family-owned by the shareholders Dirk Roßmann, Daniel Roßmann and Raoul Roßmann and holds a 60 percent share in the drugstores.

In the future, he wants to devote himself increasingly to writing, the company announced.
